Birth Story 9
November 26, 2019I was absolutely thrilled to discover there was such a thing as independent midwives! After having IVF I knew I wanted more of a personal approach to my pregnancy and birth. I arranged for an initial consultation to find out more about the packages they offer and how they work. I had such a good feeling about it we decided to go for it. I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Seeing Tess and Leonie regularly throughout my pregnancy made such a difference to how I felt. They’re empathetic nature’s really created a bond. Pregnancy can be a confusing and scary time but they made me feel special, comforted and empowered. Those feelings continued throughout my labour, the birth and after the birth. They really just totally understood us and our mentality toward the pregnancy and birth. There was absolutely no pressure to do anything we weren’t comfortable with. They allowed us to make the decisions and have control of the experience but also to lean on them for guidance and reassurance when we needed.
I was very anxious leading up to the birth and during labour and I can’t express enough how encouraging the ladies were, giving me confidence to make me feel like I could actually do this! I gave birth to our gorgeous boy at home in the pool just how we wanted. Tess and Leonie came as soon as we called and were absolute pillars of strength the whole time. They reassured me when I needed it and made me laugh when I needed that too! I’m so proud and happy that I had such a positive birth experience.
Words can’t describe how much they’ve done for us, something we can never repay enough. I can 100% recommend these wonderful human beings to help bring your baby into the world. In my opinion, there’s no one else better for the job!
