Lauren

Below is a little information about both my midwifery journey and me! Echoing from my lovely team, I also feel it is imperative to know who I am as well as my working history in order for you feel we are the right fit for each other!

I have three beautiful fur babies (currently no human ones) who are my life and soul! I would love to give a history of how they were brought into the world, however my services have not yet stretched to canine births!

I have been qualified since 2014, however I have worked in both children’s and maternity services since 2009. Initially I worked as play specialist in the children’s wards, caring for long term inpatients and their families. This then moved to working with babies and toddlers within the unit, helping with early years play and development. Following this I moved into Maternity Services after an opportunity arose and thus started my journey into midwifery! I completed my training in a busy East London hospital and have worked in various areas since qualification (Surrey, Kent and London)!

Having the opportunity to build strong working relationships with families is what I envisioned my midwifery career to be! A lot this inspiration and desire had come from my Nan practicing as midwife during ‘Call the Midwife’ times – she truly expressed how beautiful bonding not only with the Mother but the whole family was! Sharing both my knowledge and experiences with families in an holistic way that suits their own personal needs is a core value in my practice as a midwife.

I have worked in various settings, including homes, labour wards, birth centres and theatres meaning that my scope of practice can suit your family regardless of mode of birth! I am able to give unbiased knowledge on all types of births and will support families in their preferred method of birth as well as honouring your wishes and needs during this special time.

I have also completed both my NIPE (Newborn and Infant Practice Examination) and Aromatherapy course. The Aromatherapy diploma allows me to use essentials oils and blends to help improve contractions, pain and discomfort, relaxation levels and delivery of your placenta as well as other areas within the birth and postnatal journey. The NIPE qualification allows me to complete the routine examination offered to all infants within 72 hours of life. This is a more in-dept examination, checking for things such as hip movement as well as eye health. Please do let me know if you wish to have any further information on these.

Services I offer:

  • Antenatal care
  • Labour and birth support at home or in Hospital
  • Postnatal Care
  • NIPE examination
  • Labour, Birth and immediate postnatal Aromatherapy
